Knowing the limitations on the IHI (K03) turbo the TSI comes equipped with, we sought out to upgrade the turbo while maintaining factory plumbing and lessen the install burden for shops and home mechanics alike.
The factory Borg Warner K04 turbo that is equipped on the Golf R / S3 is a much more robust turbo with a higher operational boost range, while still mounting on and integrating seamlessly with the stock components. We modify the OEM K04 compressor cover, to allow the factory K03 diverter valve to be installed in the OEM location via a CNC port adapter, saving the consumer from purchasing unnecessary plumbing and mounts to complete the installation.
HPA also removes the turbo muffler to accommodate an HPA designed CNC machined fitting allowing the outlet pipe of the turbo to be rotated to clear the block, and to increase airflow out of the unit. This has the added side effect of a less muffled and smoother air stream exiting the turbo. A laser cut block off place for the OEM S3 PCV system is included with all K04 kits as this port is not required on a TSI motor.
Each kit will include a stage 2 software tune as developed on HPA SCCA World Touring Car engines, allowing maximum horespower, drivability, and engine longevity. New gaskets, studs, bolts, silicone coupler and clamps are included with every kit.
